For this project, our responsibilities encompassed the generation of a P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram), creating 3D designs, and fabricating and delivering a complete piggable and jacketed chocolate piping system. The system was designed to replace an inefficient and outdated setup, spanning from tanks to each piece of equipment involved in the chocolate processing, thereby enhancing overall efficiency and functionality.
The Challenge
- Client required a full replacement of an outdated and inefficient chocolate processing pipework system.
- System needed to span from tanks to every piece of equipment across the entire production line.
- Required a piggable and jacketed design to meet strict food safety and hygiene standards.
- No complete design brief existed; engineers had to develop the full scope from scratch.
The Solution
- Mechanical engineers developed a comprehensive P&ID covering the entire chocolate processing system.
- Created a detailed 3D model allowing the client to visualise and refine the concept in real time.
- Fabricated the complete pipework system off-site to minimise production shutdown time.
- Swiftly installed the system during the shutdown window, accommodating additional client requirements as they arose.
The Outcome
- System passed its first-time test; a direct result of the quality and precision of the installation.
- Client received a fully integrated, hygienic pipework system built to their exact specifications.
- Significantly improved efficiency and functionality across the entire chocolate processing line.
- Minimal disruption to production operations throughout the project.
