Jarlam was engaged by a trusted Australian ice cream manufacturer to design, fabricate and install custom stainless steel conveyor systems connecting multiple production stages and supporting efficient product transfer throughout its factory.

The project required Jarlam’s conveyor engineering expertise to navigate existing machinery and structural elements within a constrained factory layout, while maintaining consistent product flow and providing safe access for operators, cleaning and maintenance.

The Challenge:

  • Enable safe, efficient product transfer across the factory through a stainless steel conveyor system that connected the required stages of production.
  • Develop a fully customised conveyor route around existing machinery, structural elements and production equipment within a constrained factory footprint.
  • Maintain consistent, controlled product flow while incorporating dedicated space for operator interaction within the production process.
  • Engineer a durable stainless steel conveyor system that supported effective cleaning and maintenance while providing readily accessible passage to a key area of the factory floor.
  • Deliver a complete turnkey solution, with one experienced team coordinating the design, fabrication and installation of the conveyor systems to ensure efficient execution and consistent quality throughout the project.

Our Solution:

  • Used 3D CAD modelling and clash detection to precisely configure the conveyor route around existing machinery and structures, resolving potential clashes and access constraints before fabrication.
  • Combined high-quality stainless steel construction with a blue modular plastic belt to support hygienic product handling and reliable transfer through straight and radius sections.
  • Integrated adjustable guide rails to maintain product alignment and controlled movement along the stainless steel conveyor.
  • Incorporated a gas-strut-assisted fold-up section, allowing operators to safely raise the conveyor and access an otherwise obstructed area of the factory floor.
  • Tailored the conveyor systems to the existing production line, incorporating a customised trough section for operator interaction.

The Outcome:

  • Jarlam improved product transfer reliability by delivering interconnected stainless steel conveyors that supported consistent movement across the factory.
  • Connected key production stages while improving operator access and reducing obstructions through integrated fold-up conveyor sections.
  • Increased floor space utilisation through 3D modelling and clash detection, enabling Jarlam’s engineers to route the conveyor systems efficiently around existing structures.
  • Reduced cleaning and maintenance effort through hygienic stainless steel construction and improved access for routine cleaning, inspection and servicing.
  • Delivered a customised stainless steel conveyor system that integrated with the client’s existing equipment and supported its product transfer requirements and operator workflow.
