Jarlam was engaged by one of Melbourne and Sydney’s leading suppliers of premium sourdough breads, pastries and artisan baked goods to design and fabricate a custom stainless steel conveyor system for its production facility.

The project required a compact, hygienic conveyor solution capable of transferring products from oven height to ground level while maintaining product integrity and integrating seamlessly with new equipment.

The Challenge:

  • The limited floor space required a compact conveyor design capable of safely transferring products to ground level.
  • The solution needed to safely transfer products from the oven onto the conveyor without causing damage or compromising product quality.
  • The design team carefully managed changes in product direction to maintain smooth, controlled and consistent product flow.
  • The conveyor required a hygienic design that supported effective cleaning in areas with limited access.

Our Solution:

  • Jarlam designed and fabricated a compact stainless steel conveyor system, optimising the gradient to achieve a controlled descent within the limited floor space.
  • Jarlam designed a custom stainless steel transfer chute to enable smooth product transfer from the oven at the required production speeds without compromising product integrity.
  • To achieve this, Jarlam’s engineers selected the appropriate belt specifications and optimised conveyor speeds to manage directional changes while maintaining product alignment and consistent flow.
  • Jarlam engineered the chute and conveyor around the new equipment’s operating requirements, enabling seamless integration, efficient production flow and minimal downtime.

The Outcome:

  • Achieved a controlled transfer from oven height to ground level within the available production footprint.
  • Matched the conveyor and transfer chute speeds to the required production throughput, maintaining continuous and consistent product flow.
  • Maintained product alignment and integrity through each transfer point and directional change, minimising product damage and disruption.
  • Successfully integrated the chute, conveyor and new equipment into one hygienic system, improving cleaning access and minimising production downtime.
